Thinking back to the first day my husband, Rick and I stepped foot in 319 W. Ogden Avenue. The once T-shirt Shoppe was a paint splattered and glittered open space. It was horrific! I had a new born baby, Lucia, and a vision. After a contractor was hired, he quickly went MIA. Luckily, my cousin is a professional dry wall hanger and came to the rescue. We painted the place and opened our doors on September 21, 1993. Lucia became a permanent staff member and even had her own office/nursery. The practice grew, and so did my family. 18 months later, Nicco was born. As many of you may recall, Nicco was very ill in those early years. He lived in the hospital for three years and required 24-hour care for many years thereafter. Amidst that, we opened our second location in LaGrange Park in 1993. Life seemingly settled in for a few years until 2009, Rick passed away. Once again, with the support and understanding of all of my wonderful patients, we were able to weather another storm. Over the years, Lucia moved out of the nursery and to the front desk. She may have made you coffee as you waited to see me, answered the phone or cleaned the restroom. Lucia has had her hands at most aspects of the business except one, but not for long. She is currently finishing the 4th year of her Doctorate in Audiology.
This past Spring, a gentleman entered the office at 319 W.Ogden, a placeI have hung my hat for the past 26 years. He announced that he just bought the entire strip mall and intended to demolish it as soon as possible! I kicked and screamed. However, if the past 26 years have taught me anything, it’s how to weather storms and make lemonade out of lemons! I am so proud to announce that we will be moving to a new location! (Address and location to be determined.) I am also proud to announce that Lucia will complete her doctorate of Audiology in May of 2020! I am thrilled that she has decided to work along me in a professional capacity as an Audiologists! We both look forward to our new journey! Stay posted for the announcement of our new address. I look forward to providing the community with the best possible hearing health care for many years to come.
I love having a small family business as it allows me to give personalized care and get to know my patients. Over the past 26 years, you have become part of my family. I cherish you and the support you have given me over the years Cheers!
